Who's eligible?

Our carers card is available to all carers. Select what type of carer you are to order your card.




Carer

You provide support to a spouse, partner, child, parent, relative, friend or neighbour who cannot manage without your help. This includes those receiving carers allowance.


All carers are eligible for our carers card, including those receiving a financial benefit such as carers allowance.


" A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. "

Carers CAN be:

  • an unpaid carer
  • a carer who receives a financial benefit
  • a young person under 18 looking after a parent/brother/sister
  • looking after a relative with a mental illness or physical disability
  • the parent of a child with special needs (inc. ADHD & Autism)
  • a friend or relative looking after an older person
  • a foster carer
  • a kinship carer

Carers DO NOT have to:

  • live with the person they care for
  • be the only carer
  • be related to the person they care for
  • be receiving any financial support
  • be registered with a care organisation or hub

Professional carer

You are a professional carer who has trained and is paid to look after people. Paid carers include, home care workers, care agency workers, support & social workers, etc.


The following types of professional carers are eligible for our carers card:

  • Paid Carers, Support Workers or Personal Assistants
  • Care Agency Workers
  • Care Home Workers
  • Care Home/Agency Employers
  • Anyone working in Social Care, including Social Workers
  • User Led Organisation (ULO) workers, such as a charity
  • Direct payment or Personal Budget Employers
  • Volunteer & Community Sector
  • Anyone providing a service to Social Care
