There are too many carers in debt

Unpaid carers are individuals who provide regular and substantial care to a family member or friend who has a disability, illness, or needs extra support due to old age.

There are too many carers in debt

In the UK, unpaid carers make an invaluable contribution to society, providing over 1.3 billion hours of care per year. However, many unpaid carers in the UK face financial hardship and live in poverty. Sadly, around 64% of unpaid carers are in debt or have had to cut back on essentials such as food and heating to make ends meet. Additionally, 45% of unpaid carers are unable to save for the future, and 33% have had to borrow money to cover living costs.

More needs to be done!
